Our Team

David Grubbs

Dave graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Architecture.  He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  He is NCARB certified and is licensed in several Midwest states.  He founded Grubbs & Associates after working at other St. Louis area firms.  He is involved with every project in the office and especially enjoys construction detailing.

In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and studying foreign languages, including Italian and Spanish.

Karen Gulick

Like her father, Karen also holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State and an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  She is NCARB certified and is licensed in Missouri.  She is especially interested in Senior Living design and assists with the marketing and business development activities of the firm.

When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading and crafting.

Todd Hageman

Todd completed his Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Technology at Washington University in St. Louis.  He is NCARB certified and licensed in the States of Missouri and Illinois, and has certifications for LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty in Building Design + Construction and WELL Accredited Professional.  He is a Principal partner, and leads the production of all of the firm’s projects.  Todd has vast knowledge and expertise on building codes, and sets the office’s quality standards for construction documentation.  He has extensive experience with senior living design as well as financial facilities.

In his spare time, Todd enjoys traveling to tropical destinations, spending time outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and relaxing at home with his wife and two dachshunds.

Erin Chapman

Erin obtained her Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, under the influence of the design principles of Mies van der Rohe and an emphasis on the importance of understanding construction details and fabrication.  She is in the process of obtaining her license.  She does a little bit of everything and dabbles in graphic production for the office.

She spends most of her free time on an extensive succulent collection, biking, cooking, and hanging out with her neighbors and cats.

Jon Maayan

As project Architect, Jon enjoys being able to advance projects from design development through the end of construction.  He holds a B.A. in Architecture from Washington University and an M. Arch. from University of Southern California, where he explored ways to improve housing for the elderly.  He is licensed in the state of Missouri and has over 20 years of experience in multi-family housing and light commercial Architecture.

After raising two sons with his wife Cheryl, Jon now spends his free time renovating their 100-year old home, taking long bike rides, and pursuing his lifelong mission of becoming a half-decent guitar player.
