Our Team
David Grubbs
Dave graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Architecture. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. He is NCARB certified and is licensed in several Midwest states. He founded Grubbs & Associates after working at other St. Louis area firms. He is involved with every project in the office and especially enjoys construction detailing.
In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and studying foreign languages, including Italian and Spanish.
Karen Gulick
Like her father, Karen also holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State and an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is NCARB certified and is licensed in Missouri. She especially enjoys design, space planning and interacting with clients and consultants throughout all project phases. She is involved with the business side of running the firm, as well as marketing and business development activities.
When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and two sons, reading, crafting and planning all of the worldwide trips she will take someday.
Christopher Urhahn
Christopher has over twenty-five years of experience in many market types, including healthcare, higher education, government, corporate and hospitality. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Detroit. His skills in organizing the many facets of project work, administering the budget, monitoring schedules, managing consultants and communicating with client groups has resulted in architectural solutions that bring high value to clients.
In his spare time, Christopher enjoys model trains and fishing.
Aaron Beatty
Aaron has always been interested in art and design, but he discovered his passion for architecture and drafting during his years in high school while attending the Architectural/Drafting program at Capital Area Career Center. After completing his military service in the United States Marine Corps, he continued his education in architecture at Lincoln Land Community College and Southern Illinois University where he received his Bachelors of Science with Academic Honors in Architectural Studies as well as his Masters in Architecture. As one of our newest team members, Aaron is becoming an expert at Revit and is in the process of obtaining his license.
In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, playing video games and working with model trains.
Caleb Heusel
Caleb, one of our newest team members, joined the firm after graduating from Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Minor in Environmental Studies. He enjoys taking a practical approach to design, with a particular awareness to changing social and environmental dynamics. He’s currently working on growing his technical knowledge – both related to construction detailing and Revit – as well as further developing his problem solving skills.
Some of his hobbies include, but are not limited to watching movies, playing basketball and spending time with family and friends.
