Breeze Park Skilled Nursing– Weldon Spring, Missouri

Lutheran Senior Services, a not-for-profit organization, chose Grubbs & Associates to design a new Skilled Nursing Facility at their Breeze Park campus.  A residential design concept was selected to accommodate sixty residents in four households of fifteen residents each.  The design is analogous to residential architecture with resident bedrooms surrounding a dynamic living space that can be arranged for both intimate social interactions as well as larger group activities.  Nurse stations and other support spaces are separated from the neighborhoods to allow full staff functioning without unnecessary intervention.  Outside the households, in the public space that connects the new structure with the remainder of the campus, the entire community comes together.  In this space, the “out of home” activities take place.
