Concordia Village Skilled Nursing – Springfield, Illinois

Grubbs & Associates served as architect of record for a new skilled nursing facility at Lutheran Senior Services’ Concordia Village Campus.  The one-story facility completes the Community’s Continuum of Care and has a unique design that employs the “household” model.  This model creates a “home-like” atmosphere for the residents by organizing the bedrooms around their own open living room, dining room and kitchen.  This facility has four households, each with sixteen residents, the majority of whom live in private units.  If the residents feel like leaving their household, they can interact in one of the many activity spaces centrally located inside the facility: Family Dining, Market, Beauty Shop and Chapel.  The facility also has physical and occupational therapies that serve outside patients, Medicare patients, and skilled nursing patients.  The space is located to allow each type of patient their own entrance to reduce any type of unwanted interaction between groups.
