Oakview Heights Supportive Living – Mt. Carmel, Illinois

General Baptist Nursing Home, a not-for-profit organization, wanted to design a new Supportive Living Facility at their Oakview Heights campus.  The state of Illinois Supportive Living program helps owners to build facilities that are similar to assisted living facilities, and that are available to low income senior citizens.  This SLF contains thirty studio apartments with small kitchenettes.  The facility offers many amenities, such as activity and social areas, a beauty shop, dining and recreational space.  The wings of the building form a courtyard that becomes the “backyard” for the residents.  This courtyard can be accessed through a deep back porch that extends the interior living space to the exterior.
