Saint Louis Altenheim – St. Louis, Missouri

Saint Louis Altenheim chose Grubbs & Associates to assist them in their efforts to modernize their Skilled Nursing Facility.  Their existing SNF was a medical model with shared bathrooms and multi-resident rooms.  Since there was a desire to convert to a household model and available real estate, the decision was made to remodel two floors of the campus’ “Tower Building,” which was built in 1966 and was licensed as a “Life Care Facility.”  The units on each floor were remodeled to include an accessible private bath with shower.  Of the twenty units on each floor, sixteen are private and four are generously sized semi-private units, for a total of twenty-four beds per floor.  Other existing units were remodeled and combined with an existing lounge to create a large communal household space for residents.  This large space contains a living room with fireplace, dining room, and a residential style serving kitchen.  All support space is located in the building core and is out of resident view.
