Sunset Home City View – Quincy, Illinois

Sunset Home wanted to create a short-term rehabilitation unit in an abandoned former skilled nursing wing.  The existing skilled nursing unit was a medical model dating from the 1960s.  The goal was to create a rehab unit that will provide a higher end experience for residents and that will be different from the other skilled nursing units at Sunset Home.  Everything was demolished in the unit except for structural elements and plumbing stacks.  The new household model contains three private units with a private bath and shower.  The ten remaining units are private but share a semi-private bath and shower.  The units also feature a kitchenette that contains a sink, refrigerator and microwave.  The household has its own living room, dining room and kitchen.  It also has its own small physical therapy area with a kitchen for occupational therapy activities.
